FSR

FSR includes 3 classes of car. These are:

Class 1 – F1000
Class 2 – Radical SR3
Class 3 (3 categories) – 2A Prototype, 2C Supersport and 6SR

In practice, all the local F1000 drivers have switched to Radicals, and Class 1 is not currently represented.

While we can support a championship of 2A, 2C and 6SR cars, we have no members racing these vehicles at this time, so Class 3 is also not active.

Consequently, the FSR Championship is exclusively Radical SR3s at this time.

There are 4 different Radical SR3 models running.

The oldest is the RS which were manufactured up until 2015. Examples: Car 60 (Andrew Eldridge), Car 23 (Derek Burns), Car 3 (Stewart Burns).

The next model is the RSX. The chassis of the SR3 RSX is largely unchanged from the Gen 2 SR3 RS, but the car has dramatic new styling and improved aerodynamics.

Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling was used to develop the redesigned front diffuser that features a “double-tunnel” profile from leading edge to the rear where it integrates into the wheel arch leading edges for improved airflow.

The rear diffuser profile has also been greatly revised leveraging experience gained from the RXC development program and features a lower deck angle to improve ‘ground effect’ aerodynamic grip.

In 2020 Radical introduced the XX with an Aim Formula Steering wheel that has a built in LCD display.

The XX electrical power system architecture uses an Aim Solid state Power Distribution Module (PDM) that replaces the conventional wire harness which reduces wire weight by 65%.

Other styling and aerodynamic improvements include updated Le Mans style composite mirrors and revised endplates for the rear wing.

The newest model introduced in 2024 is the XXR. It can be differentiated by the “shark fin” vertical fin at the rear of car.
